Why am I receiving messages even though my profile status is invisible?

When you set your profile status to “Nobody can see me,” you no longer appear among other members’ suggestions, which means no one new can discover you and message you. However, if you’re still receiving messages, there are a few reasonable explanations, which we’ll go through right away:

1. Members you’ve previously connected with can keep writing to you

The invisibility setting prevents new discoveries, but your connection with members you’ve already been in contact with stays open, in a sense. Because these people already know you, they can continue to send you messages.

If you don’t want to receive messages from these members, you can completely cut off the connection by using the “End contact” or “Remove profile” option on the right side of the relevant member’s profile.

⚠️ Important note: When you do this, your entire message history with that member is permanently deleted and cannot be restored. In addition, a member you have deleted or removed from your list will never be shown to you as a suggestion again.

2. The other person may be experiencing a delay caused by their browser’s cache

Sometimes the browser of the person sending the message keeps a snapshot of a page from before you made your profile invisible stored in its memory (cache). In this case, the other person may still think you are “visible” and send you a message, when in reality they aren’t seeing your current profile but an old copy.
